With the development of the Internet of things, it will eventually bring us to an intelligent world surrounded by sensors. As the cornerstone of the development of the Internet of things, sensors play a role in the development of the whole Internet of things.

The Internet of things is mainly composed of four parts: perception layer, network layer, support layer and application layer. As the saying goes, the lower foundation determines the superstructure. As an important part of the sensing layer of the Internet of things, as the basis of the whole Internet of things, its importance is self-evident.

The first part, as the bottom layer of the whole Internet of things, mainly includes two modules: data acquisition, ad hoc network and short-distance transmission network.

Data acquisition includes various sensors, radio frequency identification, bar code identification, image and video acquisition, data acquisition and storage; Ad hoc network and short-distance transmission network include ad hoc network, gateway access and short-distance transmission.

Through the perception layer, all external information is transformed into digital language, which makes the information become the cornerstone of everything and completes the underlying architecture of the whole Internet of things system.

In the second part, the network layer mainly includes two modules: basic network and post network integration.

The basic network includes wired broadband, wireless network, mobile communication network, cable TV network, power line network and satellite communication network. The main purpose is to increase the transmission capacity of various forms of networks; The post network integration mainly includes three parts: mobile and fixed network integration, three networks integration and ubiquitous network integration, striving to integrate different forms of networks.

The third part is the support layer, also known as the Internet of things application support platform, which mainly includes two modules: data storage, exchange, integration and processing and common support technology.

Data storage, exchange, integration and processing mainly include distributed storage, data exchange, data integration, distributed processing, resource description and data coding. The common supporting technologies mainly include cloud computing services, web service technology, service-oriented architecture, middleware and so on.

Part IV application layer

This layer involves the actual application scenarios of the whole Internet of things, mainly including industry, agriculture, energy conservation and environmental protection, business circulation, transportation energy, public safety, social undertakings, urban management, safe production, etc.

The massive data information in the Internet of things system comes from the terminal equipment, and the data source of the terminal equipment can be attributed to sensors. Sensors give all things "sensory" function. For example, human beings rely on vision, hearing, smell and touch to perceive the surrounding environment, and objects can also perceive the surrounding environment through various sensors. It is more accurate and wider than human perception.

For example, human beings can't accurately sense the specific temperature value of an object through tactile sense, nor can they sense thousands of high temperatures, nor can they distinguish subtle temperature changes, but sensors can. It can be said that sensors are the "language" for the communication between objects in the era of "interconnection of all things".
